Wine & Dine Dorcol
As it is the case with all capitals around the world, Belgrade's center is teaming with infinite number of restaurants, cafes, and all in between. Dorcol is no exclusion. There is no chance to list all the interesting places where you can feast your palate, but we definitely will talk about the ones we have had good experience with. So, in a small universe of wine&dine, what should you choose? Let's take a look at Wine&Dine Dorcol.
Of course, the first on the list is Little Bay. When it comes to both interior design and service, Little Bay can be easily put into the league with some of the best restaurants in Belgrade. Opera in a restaurant or a restaurant in an opera, that is the question that you will see in their site, and that is the question that will pop into your head when you come into the restaurant. The space is designed to look like an opera, there is a beautiful piano that takes up most of the attention, the lighting is mesmerizing during the night, and the boxes on the upper level give all the necessary intimacy, in case you need it. Wines are excellent and whatever you choose from the menu, you will not be mistaken.
Right across the street is Klub knjizevnika, another restaurant with rich history. Many celebrities from all around the world have stopped by here, and surely you will recognize the names of Kirk Douglas, Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Simone de Beauvoir and the list continues. When you have this kind of guest list, you can be sure that everything in this restaurant is impeccable, from its spacious and moderatly luxurious exterior, to the interior that is elegant and sophisticated. Almost seven decades of excellent service definitely payed off, and if you are staying in our apartment in Dositeyeva Street, both Little Bay and Klub knjizevnika are ten steps away from your building.
Maybe you are in the mood for something modern, new, conceptual? In that case, you will fall in love with Supermarket. This is not just a usual restaurant, it is a gallery, cafe, supermarket, restaurant and spa center all in one. Though you might think this is a mall, it is not the case. Supermarket strives to show the beauty of modern design through its interior design and everything inside that interior. Design clothes, home appliances and organic food makes this place tick, and its popularity is growing with every season. What might be especially interesting to tourists is Srbija Corner, where you can buy different kinds of Serbian wine, rakija (schnapps) and much more.
Marukoshi is a recently opened Japanese comfort food restaurant, and it is the first of its kind in Belgrade. There is a big chance that you will want to try Serbian cuisine, while you are here, and we wholeheartedly suggest that you do so, but if you yould like a change of scenery, then Marukoshi will be like a quick teleport to Japan. Food is delicious, servings are quite big and the atmosphere is relaxed, perfect for an easy night with a bit of sake to spice everything up.
If you never tried hookah before, then Kandahar cafe should be one of your destinations in Belgrade. Of course, there is much more to Kandahar than just great smoking, like amazing and quite unique interior that closely follows the tradition of the Orient. Here you can also order home made rahat lokum (Turkish delight), enjoy in the beautiful smells of teas from Far East and of course, if you feel like it, order a hookah, just to be completely immersed into the atmosphere. You will find Kandahar on 48 Strahinjica Bana street.
Smokvica (Little fig) is a chain of restaurants that spread throughout Belgrade, which might be the best proof of the quality service they offer. They hire young peerspective chefs and bring out the best in them, so the menu is interesting and quite innovative, but you will still find some good ol' Serbian comfort food on the menu, in case you prefer it. Even if you just stop by for a cup of coffee, you will not be disappointed, as they offer a variety of freshly squeezed juices and all kinds of healthy alternatives found their place in Smokvica, so you might as well want to stay and eat a little something.
Casa Nova is voted for No. 1 restaurant in Belgrade on TripAdvisor, and that alone says more than we ever could. Beautiful interior, fusion of French and Italian cuisine and wide range of wines from all over the world in couple words sum up what to expect here, but reading won't be enough, you will have to try it for yourself.
Last bit in Wine&Dine Dorcol section is for Mama's Biscuit Factory, the place where diet stops, as their slogan goes. Sweets, sweets everywhere! Pretty much anything sweet that you can think of they can make and serve it to you. On display are cookies, cakes, muffins, brownies and much more. If you have a sweet tooth, then be sure to stop by Mama's only after you've had a good meal, just so you don't get tempted more than you already will be.
